Your son's first communion is such a joyful milestone, and his first big step into his spiritual life. It's natural to celebrate your child's first Eucharist after the ceremony by hosting a get together with your closest family and friends. Sometimes balancing an appropriate theme with what is trendy and available in the marketplace is a difficult task. For something as sacred as a first communion party, we wanted a candy buffet with a traditional feel, but still contemporary, and simple, but elegant. Most decorations available in stores currently are more of an aqua or turquoise blue instead of the traditional light blue, making finding the right color accents quite a challenge.
So, we spent time browsing local thrift stores to find a beautiful centerpiece for our sweets table – and found it in the praying hands. We added our son’s practice rosary to the prayer hands to reinforce the occasion. We also found a couple of perfect sentiment signs at TJ Maxx, that brought in a touch of trendiness to our traditional first communion party theme. Lastly, we were excited to find thin shell-like disc garland that kind of looked like a traditional communion host, to add a little shine and elegance to our display.

Instead of spending money on a large cake, we felt mini cupcakes would be better, and placed these on trays lined with Jordan almonds and milk chocolate candy-coated gems to add pops of color.
To make sure Jackson had a party that was truly his to celebrate his First Communion, we ordered personalized Hershey Kisses in Radiant in Sky Blue. It was just the touch our sweets table and party needed!
The soft blue circles of dots mixed with solid and plain crosses for a nice contrast, and we showcased Jackson’s name enclosed in circles. These stickers were a guest favorite as a small, sweet token to remember Jackson’s big day! Even more, I appreciated that these were an exclusive design by WH Candy, so it’s doubtful anyone else in Jackson’s First Communion group will have the same exact style. There’s not a better way to celebrate your child's first communion than with communion favors customized just for your son or daughter, and their big day.
